Nashville. A tourism magnet only a short four hours from where Elvis died on the toilet. Beyond the music and food culture the city is known for, it bleeds out bedroom communities and dead-end industry, like all the major cities and nowheresville’s across the country. Warped imagination, creation, and sheer genius are lurking among us. Sometimes, we are lucky enough that they intersect and materialize. We all gravitate toward something. Sometimes, it’s Z-grade horror and exploitation movies, serial killer paperbacks and MAD Magazine. For 29-year-old artist Cody Lee Hardin, this is his home.
Under the pen name of “Cody Sucks”, Hardin has been at it for years, patronizing and poking fun at popular culture and the underground alike in what can only be described as hilariously deranged, offensive to some, but comedic gold to most. Pulling influence and reference from the low-brow, shot-on-video 80’s and 90’s splatter flicks, true crime, comics and any other subculture you can think of, Cody’s works are brief statements on why you shouldn’t take everything so fucking seriously.
We here at Blackhouse Limited are excited to announce that we have partnered with Mr. Hardin for his debut book, “Punching Down”, coming later this year. A unique collection of Cody’s works spanning past to present, presented in a full-color hardcover coffee-table book form, more details will be available soon including pre-orders, release dates, and some other awesome surprises that will come with it.
